Using a Goal Setting Worksheet: The Key to Effective Goal Setting
Many people have a vague idea of what they want to accomplish. However, for some reason they do not achieve the success they long for. Why is it that intelligent, motivated, hard-working people have not been able to achieve the success they deserve? It is because they aren’t using effective goal setting strategies.
You may have a general idea of what you want to accomplish, but the Creative Law of Attraction does not work effectively with generalities. I can guess that you would probably like to earn more money. If you earn one more dollar, would you say that you have achieved your goal? No, of course not. Earning one more dollar isn’t what you really meant. However, you weren’t specific about what you wanted to earn and, as a result, Universal Mind could not assist you in reaching your true objective.
In order to achieve what you want, you must create a goal statement. It should be written down in the present tense using clear, specific, vivid words. For example, if you want to earn $50,000 per year, you would write a goal statement like this. “I now earn $50,000 per year. My job is fulfilling and I am able to express myself creatively.”
There are many goal setting templates that can help you focus on what you want to accomplish. The following goal setting worksheet will allow you to develop an effective plan for achieving the results that you really want.
Effective Goals Setting Steps
1. Decide what you want to accomplish. The goal should be very specific. If you want to move into a different job, what are the characteristics of that job? If you want a new home, where is it located and what does it look like?
2. Determine a deadline for accomplishment. A goal must have a deadline. If you do not have a date on it, you aren’t really serious about achieving it.
3. Determine that the goal is believable to you. You must feel that you can accomplish the goal. If you believe it is impossible to achieve, you will never take the actions necessary to make your goal a reality.
4. Where are you now? Take an inventory of where you are right now. What are some of the things that you already have which can help you achieve your goal? What are additional things that you need?
5. What obstacles do you need to overcome? Is there something that might make it difficult to achieve your goal? Positive thinking is great, but preparation is even better. Be aware of the obstacles so you can make plans to overcome them.
6. What knowledge will you need to acquire? Will you need to go back to school and take certain courses? Do you need to research housing values and wonderful places to live?
7. What organizations and groups should you associate with? Are there certain groups of people who can make it easier for you to accomplish your goal? How can you become involved with them?
8. What are the benefits to you? Write down as many benefits as possible. The more benefits you can come up with, the more likely you will be to stick to the goal until you have achieved it.
9. Develop an action plan. Determine the specific steps you need to follow in order to achieve your goal.
10. Visualize yourself accomplishing the goal. In your mind, see yourself in clear detail as if you have already achieved the goal. Do this over and over again until it becomes part of your subconscious mind. This helps activate the Universal Law of Attraction.
11. Take daily action towards the goal. It doesn’t matter if you only take a small step each day toward your goal. Taking consistent action is what will help you succeed.
12. Resolve to never quit. Decide that you will never give up, even when times get tough, until you reach your goal.
It takes time and effort to complete this goal setting worksheet. But as you work your way through this goal setting exercise, you will find that you become more excited and motivated to make your dream a reality.
